I need help with my T23
I recently received a T23 for free from a friend. It had windows 2000 on it so I upgraded to Windows XP Professional. It worked for a little while then all of a sudden it would give me some weird errors. For example, when I start the computer, It would give the error:
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Operating System Not Found
This happens often but sometimes it will load up the page to either chose XP or 2000 to boot from and I chose XP. This will let it work for sometime then my computer will start to freeze and then take me to a blue page thats says my Hard disk drives are not installed and it restarts my computer. I thought this might have been an error with XP so i tried to repair it by booting up the cd again but that doesnt work either. Windows setup states that I have no hard drive. Please help me.

Hard drive is lose in it slot: check to see if it has a caddy, if not, add one. They look like this. Alternatively, the HDD is dying and needs to be replaced.

With power off, take out the hard drive, check all of the pins to see if they are lined up straight (i.e. none of them bent at an angle to the others) and clean, re-insert the disk drive, making sure it is plugged all the way in, secure with the screw on the bottom of the case and try booting again. It sounds like you are having an intermittent problem with the connection of the disk drive. Other possibilities are that the drive has bad sectors (re-formatting could help) or the disk drive controller on the motherboard is acting up (replacement needed).
When you are removing the drive, it should slide out fairly easily once you have pulled the pins out of the motherboard's connector. If the drive has a hard time being pulled out of, or pushed into the bay, then you probably have the wrong type of screws (slightly larger diameter heads than proper) securing the caddy to the drive.

If your hard drive does not have the drive tray(I've seen a couple without them), the drive may not line up properly and insert fully. The msg you are seeing is the network trying to boot up the laptop because the hard drive isnt 'installed'. Check the pins make sure they are straight, and re-insert.
Good luck,
TJ

Correct. There should be a pair of "missing" pins, third column from the "right" edge (looking directly at the pins with the top of the disk drive facing up). There should also be a single pin on the bottom row in the middle that is also not there.Ahmad447 wrote:Are all the pins supposed to be there? It seems like there are 3 missing. Is thta supposed to be like that?
