Add-on Memory Sources for Z61t?

#1 Post by jjfcpa » Thu Aug 24, 2006 7:33 am

Anyone know of a good memory source for an extra gig of memory for a new Z61t? Is it necessary to replace the existing memory or is there an extra slot available for the add-on memory?

I like www.crucial.com
Amazon has the crucial 1gb ddr2 pc2-4200 ram for $115 (crucial has it for $128) - and I think amazon is having a sale starting on friday (for Labor Day).
buy.com had the crucial 1gb stick for $110 the other day, but now it is more than amazon for some reason.

Try this one. It's faster than the one in the above mentioned Amazon link and cheaper too :)

OCZ Value 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5400) Notebook Memory - Retail
$89.99
($81.99 after $8.00 Mail-In Rebate)

From reading here and other places, I'd rather stick with micron/crucial - supposedly they're a quality ram, and still at very reasonable prices. Is there any reasoning to this, though? How are those OCZ Value ram's?

Memory prices seem to be on the rise again (crucial's site has increased the prices in the last couple of days) - but zipzoomfly.com has the pc2-4200 1GB for $108 still (no tax, no shipping fees), so I just ordered one for my Z60m (which only has a 533MHz FSB) : http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDe ... e=85016-75

But that does the OP no good, since he wants a pc2-5300 667, like you said. :( I wasn't paying attention, I guess, sorry about that. He has the Z61t, which has a 667 FSB, of course.
Those are not as common yet as the pc2-4200's - and on a quick search for a crucial 1GB pc2-5300 667 200 pin sodimm, I couldn't find any from crucial that were much less than $120 - and from crucial.com, they're about $145
