Windows XP SP2 Question C++ Runtime Error

#1 Post by gearguy » Thu Aug 24, 2006 10:55 am

Recently my new laptop (not a thinkpad but brand new non the less) has had some problems with Visual C++ Runtime errors with a 'Requested the Runtime terminate it in an unusual manner' type error. It seems to be sometimes doing it on certain programs and sometimes has an oddball occurance on Explorer.exe

I've tried system restore and system restore gets halfway through but reboots before it's finished and I'm left back where I started.

I tried reinstalling the runtime but again- the installer only seems to start and not finish (just closes and dissapears).

Other than that the laptop seems to be working fine - no problems with viruses or the like. I use Opera in conjunction with Zone Alarm and AVG and I havent really connected to the net or downloaded anything onto it yet the likleyhood of virus seems... improbable.

Is it windows reinstall time already?
760ED All the way.

FEEL THE BURN! From the bottom of that particular laptop... right in the bawsack! eek
