#1 Post by Vincent_k » Fri Aug 25, 2006 12:13 pm

I was thinking, can I upgrade to a higher resolution LCD on my T23? I have the 14.1" 1024x768 XGA screen now.

I know of people that have upgraded their T23 to SXGA+ (1400x1050).

How much do these LCDs generall sell for? I am a little interested. I had a laptop with SXGA+ before (the Dell Inspiron 8200) and enjoyed the high resolution very much. All of my current laptops have either XGA or WXGA.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)

unlike the t21/t22 you shouldn't have a problem matvhing any board to an sxga screen

Just make sure that you get the right part numbers for both the LCD and the LCD ribbon cable. The screen assembly should remain unchanged, but make sure this is the case. Check the T23 HMM at IBM's site.

xga screens are selling for over $100, so i don't even want to think about sxga!

You are right, it is not that cheap. But it is feasible. :D

It might also be worth waiting for a dead T23 being sold for parts, although SXGA+ T23s weren't very common, so it might take a while to find one of these in eBay being sold for parts.

Wonder if it'd be a bad idea to find a dead T21 with SXGA on ebay and use the screen on a T23 (I did the same... except my T21 died on me)

Lot's of T21's/T22's seem to go kaput these days :(
