about the OS language

#1 Post by kiwilee » Fri Aug 25, 2006 3:28 pm

I have ordered a T60 recently using a student discount. The embeded OS is swedish version. However, I want to change it to an English one.

Instead of buying a new English XP version, I have tried to install the windows XP Language Interface Pack to create a english skin for my system. However, the link on Microsoft page contains nothing but a readme file.

Is there any other tricks to get this done?

Thanks in advance

As far as I was aware language packs only worked to change an English OS to another supported language - I did not think that the opposite was possible

The only option you have is to get WinXP Pro OEM installation cd from somewhere. The windows license key on your T60 is valid to every language version of WinXP Pro OEM. In my opinion you can download the WinXP iso file even from some p2p source since you have legal license for you windows.

The lenovo page has 222 megabyte files with rescue and recovery files with all different languages (each). Does those files include the windows xp OS? Maybe someone can install one of them for a different windows setup language.

Also, there is the driver updater (the software installer and then there is the other one...) that has a rescue and recover file that is 1.2 gb you can download. What is that?

I am not sure about this file :( It seems odd that u can just replace the original OS by installing a completely independent software. Maybe I will check with lenovo service first.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
