Windows XP Help crashes, can't use.

#1 Post by Uncletoad » Sat Aug 26, 2006 8:23 am

For some reason the Windows XP help window crashes the help program. I can't access it without the help program crashing. XP stays running. Often it just "closes" without me ever accessing it.

I don't know how to patch it without reinstalling and wiping my harddrive.

Ideas?

For those kinds of things, I've always used the event viewer to see if any error codes/messages are produced and then google'd around the net to see if there are solutions. I've diagnosed several problems that way, from blue screens to un-cooperative USB hard drives.

Event Viewer, in case you're not familiar:

Start >Run. In the Open box, type eventvwr.msc and then click OK.

Good luck - let us know how it goes.
