Different X60s Models?

#1 Post by First Light » Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:10 am

When I go to the Lenovo website ( http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/notebooks/thin ... index.html ) it shows only one X60 and one X60s model, then you click on the "Customize" button to determine what you want in say your X60s.

I see people posting here saying I have model # so and so, and others saying I have another model # so and so.

What determines the X60s model number you get? The options you choose?

When you are done customizing you will get a model number at the end of the process.

I lot of people here also buy pre built machines. if you look in the tabbook PDF you will see model numbers fro pre configed machines.

Thanks. I thought there were pre-configured machines, but could not find them. Where/how do I find the "tabbook PDF?"

Hi,

If you look at this page:

http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/me.nsf/Lenovo ... cntry=US-L

under "Personal Systems Reference" which is towards the end of the page, you will find a tabook that you can download.

Thanks, I got to the tabook info and printed the X60s pages, but there was no price information listed.

Anyone know how to figure out the price of each unit?

To get an idea on prices, go to http://www.euclidcomputers.com and search using the model number. This site gives really good prices and lots of users on the forum have had very positive reviews of their service.

To get an idea on what the Lenovo web price would be, go to http://www.insight.com or http://www.cdw.com and also search by the model number. The prices here are usually what would show on Lenovo's page for that configuration.

If I want to find a particular model X60s on the Lenovo website, say the 1702-58U, can I do that? I entered 1702-58U in the search box, but what came up would not lead me to the model. :?:

The search works for me. Here is what I did:
- Go to thinkpad.com, select United States.
- Type 1702-58U in the search box, click on Search.
- The first item in the search results list is "Lenovo Support & downloads - ThinkPad X60s 1702-58U support." Click on the link.
- Specs are listed near the top: "Original description: L2400(1.66GHz), 512MB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel 950, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, IEEE 1394, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro."

Either call them or read my post above for pricing information.

IMHO, the Lenovo ThinkPad web site leaves a lot to be desired. Especially for new customers. I just doesn't have to be that difficult or confusing.

Cheers... :D
