T30 won't burn CD'S?

#1 Post by westsailor » Mon Aug 28, 2006 11:45 am

Not sure what the problem is but I can't seem to get my T30 to burn CD's. I have two drives, an IBM CD/RW-DVD player and a new LG CD/RW-DVD R/W (dual layer) drive.

I've tried Cute CD/DVD Burner and Nero 5.0 using both drives with no success. Both programs detect the drive correctly. I've tried using different media (Maxell & TDK).

When trying to burn a CD, both Cute CD & Nero appear to be writing to the disk(s). The access light on the drive blinks and all appears fine.

Just there is nothing on the disk when done.

I can read/play CD/DVD's fine (although the older IBM CD/RW-DVD doesn't like DVD/R's). Device manager reports both drives are working properly. DVDInfoPro confirms the capabilities of both drives.

Since neither drive is writing I'm thinking it's somehow 'operator error' or that my T30 is somehow configured to 'write protect' any burner (is that even possible?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a softwar error to me. try a different burning software before anything else.

How are you verifying this? By putting the disk into a totally different computer?

Also, has either of these two drives EVER been able to burn a disk in your system?

I'm not sure about the options available for both of the programs you are using since I don't use them, but with Easy CD Creator 5, there is a checkbox/button somewhere in one of the menus which says "TEST". If this option is enabled, the program will go through all of the steps needed to write the CD but it doesn't actually burn it. It is basically used as means to verify that your system is capable enough to successfully burn a disk and not a 'coaster'.
