A31 LCD Panel swap?

#1 Post by mbellot » Mon Aug 28, 2006 11:07 pm

I have recently gotten into digital photography in an overly insane way...

After quite a bit of research I've found that S-IPS panels are some of the best for photo editing and that there were A31s that shipped with such panels (!).

So, I have some questions for the experts.

1. My current A31 has a standard TFT panel, is it possible to swap the panel out for an IBM S-IPS panel of the same resolution (1400x1050)?

2. Is it possible to swap it out for a higher resolution (1600x1200) S-IPS panel? Poking through the HMM I can only find the 1600x1200 on models with 64MB of video memory, but even at 1600x1200 32bpp the memory needed should be less than 32MB ( 1600 x 1200 x 3 (colors) x 4 (bytes/pixel) = 23,040,000 bytes ).

Thanks for any input.
