Accident with Z60: Help
Accident with Z60: Help
OK, long story short, doing too many things at once. TP ended up on top of electric stove, eye got turned on.
Burned a nice circle pattern on bottom, melting part of case, battery & battery lock.

In a testament to true TP quality, everything works like normal. Battery gauge even shows it is charging. Even the wireless works and I think the card is right under the burn spot
Everything is backed up but I will never be able to swap or remove battery.
Sadly, it is only a few months old.
Fixable? or should I just look for another Z60, put my hard drive in it and never allow it in the kitchen again?

You'd obviously just need a new base and a battery (assuming the docking connector is either not damaged or not needed) so i'd be tempted to try and repair it, be careful though as the Z60 is a pain in the [censored] to dismantle down to base cover level, all part numbers and instructions can be found in the HMM at:

Is there anyway to make the TP not charge the battery? (even though it seems ok).
Lame question # 2:
What problems should I be looking for with the battery? Heat, smoke, smell?
In the power manager, under battery information -> battery maintenance, you can set the charge percentage to start/stop at 0%.PutnamJct wrote: Is there anyway to make the TP not charge the battery? (even though it seems ok).
If a Li-ion cell is physically damaged and the internal chemistry is exposed to air or water, it will burn and or explode. The battery cells may start to bulge before they burst/burn.Lame question # 2:
