X60 - LCD problems
My little Thinkpad bit the dust after just 1 week. After delayed shipping (see Slow Shipping for X60 thread - they told me they were waiting for a shipment of LCD screens), the LCD screen is exactly what pooped out. It's completely dark, though I can still hear the internet radio going, and I can just make out the outline of a few windows on my desktop. Hooking it up to an external monitor shows that the rest of it is working just fine.
I brought it to a service center, who ran some tests on it and told me that I'm better off RMA'ing it since besides the dark LCD, there's a host of other problems.
The good news is that they're sending me a new unit. The bad news is that I'm going to have to go 2 weeks without a laptop. Has anyone else in the batch of delayed X60/X60S had the same LCD problem?
I have model 1709-7HU.

I have the same model, and received it recently so it should be the same batch as yours. Mine machine is working perfectly, though. *crosses fingers*

model 1706-AFU?
Turns out - the 1709-7HU is on backorder, and I can't get my exchange for another 3-5 weeks until it's back in stock!!
To expedite the process, I ended up returning it and getting another model that they do have in stock. This means my "new" X60 has a 1.66 mHz processor instead of the 1.83 in the 1709-7HU. I saved 50 bucks, and it came with a 3-year thinkpad protection instead of the 1-year standard warranty I had on my original laptop.
The model is 1706-AFU. I did a search on it in the forums but didn't come up with anything. Does anyone know anything about this model? Hopefully it's not a discontinued line or anything since it came cheaper....
Thanks in advance
