Case/Sleeve for z60m w/ 9cell Battery

#1 Post by SBOR » Tue Aug 29, 2006 8:14 pm

Hello,

Ive been on the look out for a backpack for my computer (z60m) so I can take it to school and such. Ive been looking online and in different stores for a good backpack or sleeve but the one question I have would be, would the fact that my 9 cell battery sticks out about an inch from the rest of the computer play a factor in being able to fit my computer into the case?

I would try taking the computer to the stores with me to test out the fit but personally I dont like the idea of carrying around an exposed laptop.

So I was wondering if anyone here has a z60 with a 9 cell battery and what you use for transportation?

Thanks in advance
Andy

The only sleeve I know that fits this computer exactly is the Waterfield (www.sfbags.com). I bought one after reading about them in this forum, and it was well worth the money.

I got one with a strap, but I'm keeping an eye out for a backpack that will hold it, for those times when I need to carry additional stuff. My solution to the size-gauging problem has been to cut a piece of cardboard to the right dimensions and keep it in my car, in case I see a bag that might work. :)

Backpack:

Hard shell sleeve:

I personally use these options for a Z60m 9cell with no problems. I do not use them together as the hard shell will not fit in the backpack but it is not needed as the backpack has the appropriate laptop padding. The hard-shell is great for carrying the laptop in a tactical backpack. Hope this helps.

$100 more than I can afford but i'll probably get the hard case and buy a cheaper/bigger backpack.

thanks a million.

I would add my support of Waterfield bags and sleeves. A couple of years ago, I bought one of their combo packs - briefcase, sleeve, cable bag and shoulder strap. It was a little pricey at about $200 but has been the best bag I have bought. Bulletproof and very intelligently designed. In addition, their customer service is fantastic. You call their number, you get a real live person who knows what they are talking about product wise, and gets you exactly what you want and need.

So my laptop goes off lease a year into owning this combo - and the replacement laptop was significantly larger (a Dell D600 switched for an M70) A quick phone call and a couple days later and for about $45 I had a new neoprene sleeve for the laptop and fit my M70 - and I'm back in business. Much better than the briefs or backpacks that have a sewn-in padded pocket. And moving to a laptop as large as an M70 - there are a lot of bags I'd just have to abandon - not so with the Waterfield. Highly recommended.

If you want to see a couple of good reviews of that or other bags - check out The Gadgeteer site - they go a great job. http://the-gadgeteer.com

Here's what I'm using for my Z60m and I too have the 9-cell battery.

I've been using this for a few months now and I really like it.
