Any info on the 360CS

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Any info on the 360CS

#1 Post by glenn778 » Tue Aug 29, 2006 11:14 pm

I inherited a 360cs. I can find very little info on this machine. I went to ibm's site, they want to charge for the manual. I know it is a 486 machine, but nothing more. Any information on the machine and drivers available would be appreciated.

thanks,
Glenn778 :o

Look at item number one in the forum's FAQ. You'll get a link to more information than you'll ever know what to do with.

When I bought my 360 new in 1994 for just over $1800, I considered the 360Cs, but I couldn't afford $450 more for the color display

Here are the specs on the 360Cs: SL-enhanced 486sx33, VESA video bus, 4MB on-board. Max = 20MB, 9.5 inch DSTN display, 256 color, disk drive 170MB or 340MB

I may have drivers, etc, let me know what you need. Runs WIN 3.1 great, but even WIN95 on these is a bit of a stretch. If you max out the RAM (at 20MB) WIN95 would probably be OK for occasional use.

Look at the sticky at the top of the "legacy" page, which will lead you here:

Most anything you'll need is there. Some of the stuff for the 360 series is the same as the 755 series. I still have 3 old 360's, one of which was upgraded with an Evergreen chip. I still use them for programming radios and other "old" duties.

Click the "mobiles" folder, and read the index at the top of the list

I have a 360PE, which has specs closed to 360Cs. Though officially RAM is 20 Mb max, mine's got 36 Mb by using a 32 Mb card.
Just my 2 cent
in use: x200 - x60s
for fun: Transnote - 701c - 360PE - Workpad z50 - PalmTop PC110 (need fix)

No, sorry, I found the upgrade board a few years ago (nearly 10, already) on eBay. It was a board exchange deal--the cpu on the 360 series is soldered in.

On the aside, the other day I found a backback 24x parallel port CDROM at the thrift store, just like new, for 8 bucks

Thanks. That's what I thought.
