z60m lcd question...

#1 Post by truthiness » Wed Aug 30, 2006 10:49 pm

Hello!!! New here and have a noob question that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

Just ordered z60m w/ the LCD described as WXGA, but the x600 ATI card is SXWGA+ capable. Does this mean I'll be able to take advantage of the 2048x1536 resolution or am I only able to get the 1280 x 800 resolution on this panel? Also is this a glossy panel or matte finish?

Also, one thing that was interesting to me and I see this is a common issue... I originally ordered w/o the Office software and had an initial ship date of 9/8; but when I called to mod the order to include Office, the ship date got bumped out to 9/18. (sigh)

Glad to be here and looking forward to being part of the TP community.

My $0.02 worth:

1) The maximum resolution you get will be determined by the LCD.
2) Probably matte - I have WSXGA+ (1680X1050) on mine and that's matte. Much better than glossy for most purposes.
3) They would've changed the date anyway, they always do.

Hope you enjoy your new Thinkpad!
