Base memory user-upgradable?
Base memory user-upgradable?
Greetings,
Can anybody say if the base memory that X60s comes with is user-upgradable or soldered into the motherboard? And if it is upgradable, is it any more difficult to do so than the extra memory?

Thank you, Mfratt. This is a very useful piece of information. Do I take it to mean that it is possible to order an x60s with no RAM installed and then up fill it in?mfratt wrote:All the memory is user-accessible/ubgradable. There are 2 slots under the removable panel on the bottom.

there is no onboard memory and I don't think it is possible to order a system with no memory at all so at least one slot should have something in it already. Be careful though, a lot of systems have been shipping with 2 chips, ie if you order 512MB you get 2 x 256MB chips rather than a single 512MB chip which means both slots are used up and is frustrating for upgradingmadana wrote:Thank you, Mfratt. I think that is one of the best qualities of the X60 line. So many companies either solder the ram to the board(for a saving of what 10 cents and about 2mm of space by not using a socket) or shove it under the keyboard.mfratt wrote:All the memory is user-accessible/ubgradable.
