I was looking for a new Nokia 3585i phone for Alltel on ebay. I found one at a reasonable price and ordered it. The seller had 100% positive feedback (gained through subterfuge, it turns out), so I didn't bother to check the comments. I was in a hurry, I have a lot of things going on right now, so I just didn't give this bid the attention to detail I usually do. I should have been suspicious when they did not respond to my initial inquiry about the phone.

Here's the phone. Well, that's not the phone I paid for... but, aside from the price, the ad looks identical.

Anyway, the phone presented in the ad was not the phone that I got. It could only be described as similar in that it was the same model number.

It has a different color, a different antenna (one I've never seen on this model), there's a rubber pad that's supposed to be on the back of the casing that's totally gone (though there is plenty of adhesive left where it used to be), the LCD some sticky tape residue on it (they couldn't be bothered to clean the thing) and the LCD has lines going through the display when I turn it on. I'll link to some pics of the phone when(if) I can take some; you'll be astonished at the comparative quality.

The ebayer in question is justusedphone, and I suggest that they be avoided. Apparently, they don't even look at the phones before they ship them. By their own admission, "[a]ll items are boxed prior to listing."

I should have researched them more carefully. A simple trip to Toolhaus.org (referenced above) would have revealed this: a lot of negative feedback disguised as neutral and mutually withdrawn feedback.

I'll be e-mailing them tonight to see what they have to say for themselves.

Yea, they pretty much suck at life. Good thing you can count on 100% positive feedback... :x

No disrespect to anyone but the word "hate" is quite mean and does not belong in my dictionary. I'll say dislike instead.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

I was never trying to please anyone with the thread title. If using a synonym makes you feel better, OK. You may want to check out the latest version of your dictionary.

I used to be able to hate people (as a teenager). Now that I'm older, I only feel intense dislike. It's like hate, but it doesn't seem to take up as much of my time and energy. You could say it's more efficient.

Well, they wrote me back, finally. They're allowing me to send it back for a full refund (minus my expense incurred shipping it). And they apologized for this issue.

Well, that's nice, but it was unprofessional of them to send it out in that condition to begin with. As a dealer in used goods myself, I don't sell anything to anyone without describing the major defects to them. And I would never try to send them a different version of the item listed without asking if they wanted it. I don't understand why they think it's okay to do so.
