Do you affect or lose your warranty with IBM if you upgrade RAM and HD by yourself?

No, your warranty is still good. The ram and the hard drive are not warranteed, of course. Unless IBM can prove that these additions were the cause of the failure, you're OK.

Hah, I wanted to replace my keyboard but the first person I spoke in Holland (The Netherlands) said it was impossible, and I would void my warranty, I did not accept that. So I got a second line person, he also persisted I was not allowed to upgrade my T41P.

When I finally got to the manager there he said yes I may, and I have had him e-mail it to me as proof.

So yes you can, but if you have to RMA and they notice they are certainly are going to [censored] about it.

In fact, if you call them and say:
"my spacebar fell off and I can't get it back on", they will SEND YOU A NEW ONE!!!!!!!
As far as the hard drive and memory, it is recommended that if you need to send the unit in for service, remove those parts. Not required unless those are the problem parts,.
And if I had some 512 DIMMS in the machine, I certainly would NOT send them with the machine

Trust me, EZ SERVE has memory and hard drives to test machines with!
PLEASE DO NOT PM
My handheld device can not access PM's and I will not respond.
