omega drivers changing "boot" resolution?

#1 Post by wmf » Thu Aug 19, 2004 2:40 pm

Hi,
I have a slight problem in that when I installed the Omega drivers on my 2378FVU, the resolution of the boot screen (i.e. everything past the bios, so the windows splash screen, and even when I use Linux in terminal mode) is really small and thus about half of the screen. Since I use Linux in terminal mode quite often, how can I get this back (I tried uninstalling the driver but the resolution remained at a constant)....
Thanks.

Linux's standard text mode is totally unrelated to the omega drivers. You may want to recompile your kernel with better video support so you can use whatever res you want in text mode, or you can pass the basic command-line options to the kernel to change to a more generic VESA-type mode. Google around a bit for resolution and mode changing for the linux "console" and you'll turn up what you need.

Check your BIOS setting for the screen resizing option.

For the screen size issue with windows go into the control panel, display properties, settings tab, click on the advanced button, go to the displays tab, and click on panel. On that page there should be a check box for 'scale image to panel size.'
