just ordered x60s!!

#1 Post by ansatzjp » Mon Sep 04, 2006 3:40 pm

I've been looking to buy a new laptop to replace my current X31. It has been a painful decision between T60/X60 and again between X60/X60s, but the bargain price through BU computers (no academic affiliation required) and the immdiate availability (Lenovo.com has 5-14 days waiting time) made the choice easier. I'm excited!!

We in the forum all know of the joy/pain waiting for our machines to arrive. It's well worth the wait, I assure you. I have been doing everything but sleeping with my 12-day old X60s. And that's only because I'm afraid of rolling over and crushing the screen.

Enjoy!

Does Lenovo take 5-14 days now? IF yes, than this is a major improvement. Somehow I see 3-4 weeks on their site.

It takes about 3 weeks for a machine to arrive from the time of ordering.

I placed my order for the X60s (17044JU) on August 22nd and was surprised to find out that it would come on the 29th instead of the estimated 3-4 weeks on the site (September 11th was my original expected ship date). I can only speculate that maybe the 3-4 week expected delivery might just be a conservative estimate based on what Lenovo has on hand as far as parts go for different configurations.

OP, I hope you'll like yours as much as I like mine!

Congratulations.

In my opinion you have purchased one of the best laptops possible. I bought mine in the last part of June of this year. I bought the X60s, 2 gig of ram, 100 gig HD, WWAN, 8 cell extended battery, UltraBay with battery, DVD, extra AC adapter, IBM leather case, etc;

I can't say enough about the battery life of this laptop. I am sitting in a Mo's restarauant in Florence, Oregon using my Verizon WWAN broadband access! This is truly a mobile machine! Hope you have as much satisfaction with yours when it arrives as I am having with mine. I have to say that this is the best laptop that I have ever purchased.

Kim

I think it depends on how long you fall in love with your GF. At the beginning stage, dozons of thinkpads will not do, while severals years later, only one will do :D
