Broadcom or Intel mini-pci in an R50e

Hi,

Does anyone know if either a Broadcom B/G mini pci or the intel pro 2915 will go into a wireless ready R50e?

As long as it is an IBM part (ie has an FRU number) and will fit in the slot, it should work. Non-IBM-branded Mini-PCI cards will likely not work in the Thinkpad.

I would also be hesitant to install a non-IBM part.

A less elegant alternative would be a wireless USB adaptor.. several of which I have used in my R50e with success.

You could also try the Marketplace in this forum as there are
many reputable traders that could possibly assist you
in obtaining an IBM branded card at a reasonable cost.

I replaced my original 2100 3B card with a 2200BG card I got off EBay.co.uk, just search for "IBM Mini-PCI" and you'll be able to locate suitable parts.

Or, as ms5133 suggested, use an external adapter, USB or PC Card.
