z60m firewire

z60m firewire

Hello,

Does someone knows who is the manufacturer of z60m's firewire port/chipset.
It says only - OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
and driver is dated 1.7.2001, quite old.. as this firewire has problems with audio interfaces, I wondered is there some update or something to reduce these problems?

As someone wrote here before - it's a NEC. So you should ignore built-in firewire when considering laptop choice - you should buy pcmcia (or expresscard, even better) firewire adapter with Texas Instruments chip, anyway.
