I wouldn't recommend hollowing out eraser tips. The eraser tips can some apart and get into your system. Maybe if it were a quick fix, but I certainly wouldn't do this very long.

There are two (or more?) different kinds of mouse caps, and I much prefer the type with a flat top. Both kinds are available on eBay; make sure you know which one you are buying.

I've started using the sofpoint caps (www.sofpoint.com). They are shorter than the dome and concave caps so there is no imprint on my LCD and they are more comfortable than the cats tongue caps. Since they are shorter they might take a little getting used to... but I like them.

BTW they are much different than they were a few years back.
