wireless mouse

#1 Post by adrenalincreek » Thu Aug 19, 2004 10:09 pm

Guys,

The T42 comes with only 2 USB ports. If we use a wireless mouse, which all I've seen so far use a USB port and none use a PS2, this would mean that we're only left with 1 USB port for the rest of the life time of this laptop PC unless we wanna carry around a USB hub.

I was thinking... wired mice come with a USB->PS2 adapter. Why not the wireless ones? Is it a matter of a baud rate that would render the wireless mouse useless if hooked up through the slow PS2 port?

Has any of you ever use a wireless RF mouse on a PS/2 port using a USB to PS/2 adapter?

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Cheers,
AdrenalinCreek

No, but you can look for a Bluetooth wireless mouse - which is what I'm doing. Saves a port and, look Ma, no wires!

adrenalincreek, you can use a wireless usb mouse on the PS2 port. I had a logitech wireless mouse on my X21 thinkpad - the only problem I had using the PS2 port, was that the logitech button configuration utility wouldnt work unless I used the USB port.

I use a BT mouse on my T42.

Guys, sorry! I take it back. T42 doesn't even have a PS/2 port!! and I was worried about wasting on USB port for a wireless mouse! lol

I feel much better now as I know that my ONLY choice left is to waste one USB port on an external mouse! :)

adrenalincreek, no Bluetooth on your T42? That would be the optimum solution - using no physical port! :)

Sorry for not mentioning that there was no PS2 port on the T42, I suppose that was key. :?
