Wireless problems
Wireless problems
My new T42p just arrived and I cant be more happy with its performance just about everywhere- except in one place- wireless! I cant get this machine to connect to my wireless access point at home. The AP is a 2wire box which is a dsl modem and router, and another laptop I have that uses the intel 2100 card can see it just fine. However, my T42p with the 2200 cant see it at all. In fact, my computer thinks that the wireless network is disconnected. I also get messages of "radio off" or 'disconnected". This leads me to believe that I have to run something to set up the wireless thing. I tried to run the Access IBM wireless setup but it didnt work. What is wrong? Please help!
I imagine you've read a few of the many threads here on wireless problems.
Have you tried turining off Windows Zero Wireless Config?
I assume you have the box unchecked that says "Allow Windows to Configure your Wireless Connection" and the box checked that says "Get IP Address Automatically"
I'm pretty sure I've seen that message before in these forums (the "waiting for IP configuration" message). I remember there being a very simple answer, but I can't find it. Maybe I'm dreaming.
Have you tried using Windows to configure the connection instead of Access Connections?

is you MAC address allowed by your router.
During my initial excitement to test drive my new T42, I forgot I had MAC address filtering enabled in my router. Once I added my MAC address to the router's table, all was well!
