#1 Post by ubergeek » Thu Sep 07, 2006 7:26 pm

Sorry if this is a repost but I am tired of X60s beeps whenever I close the lid. What is the quick fix?

you can mute your audio with your mute button and that'll eliminate the beeping sound when you close or open your lid

i'm not sure how to completely disable it

At bootup press the blue ThinkVantage button and choose F1 to enter BIOS Setup. Go to "Config", then "Alarm" and in there will be 4 choices: Power Control Beep, Low Battery Beep, Volume Beep, and Password Beep. You can either enable or disable each one.

I am sort of glad that I went in there because I have disabled the Volume Beep on mine which was sort of annoying. :)

are you saying that disabling the volume beep will completely turn off the "beep" when closing or opening lid???

Thx. That took care of it. Basically, I disabled the beep for Power Change. It no longer beeps when it goes to sleep or wakeup.

Gunston,

I am saying that if you disable the "Power Control Beep" it will

completely turn off the "beep" when closing or opening lid.

The Volume Beep will disable the beeping as you lower or raise your volume with the buttons on the keyboard.

Hi,

I've learnt not so long ago that you can completely disable the beep from the computer, from the Device manager, choose to see hidden devices, and then you'll find it in the list. Disable it.

Kind regards,

Under power profiles->global power settings

I unchecked the box for "beep on power state change" (first box)

and that stopped it altogether on standby/resume/whatever.
