Hi All,
A week ago, I performed my first complete backup (base) of my HD onto an external USB hard drive (primary). I gave the base backup a name and the process went through successfully. Now, a week later, I wish to perform a second (incremental) backup. My question are:
1. Do I need to change the name of the incremental backups or can I continue to name the incremental backups with the same name as the base backup?
2. As the Help file says that RNR will create one base backup and five incremental backups, what are the options for archiving all the backups?
3. In the event of a complete restore (touch wood that this does not happen), is it necessary to load the base backup and all the incremental backups that have been created separately or will RNR handle them automatically and restore my system to the most current state?
I am so sorry to ask all these fundamental questions. I am just not very clear of the process yet. I hope that you will all understand.
Cheers and best regards,
Ranjit
RNR 3.10.0022.00 Backup - I am still waiting for an answer!
Hi Kyocera,
Thank you for your response, and for your suggestion.
Infact, before posting here, I did personally contact the local Lenovo office, but sadly, they seem to provide more hardware than software support. I did not get much help from them.
I am therefore relying entirely on the gurus in this forum. I hope that someone will help me to better understand R&R software.
Thank you.
Cheers and best regards,
Ranjit

1) I don't even name the backups...they are timestamped...just give them a common sense name, like if you about to update some drivers, say "just before xxx update" or some such thing...
2) The incremental backups will "age" out over time, combining with the existing ones...this happens automatically. The base backup remains pristine.
3) the combination of base backup and incrementals happen automatically during a restore
