X41 Tablet not starting up, please help.

#1 Post by yongke » Fri Sep 08, 2006 6:28 am

Hello community members. I brought a x41 tablet on ebay a month ago. Originaly worked great, nothing wrong, but yesterday it suddenly stoped working. The power indication light would turn on, but nothing would show up on screen. I was wondering if anyone had this problem before or can offer any help. Thanks in advance.

Everytime that has happened to me was because of ram- either faulty or unseated. Start there. Hope that helps.

I had an X31 that didn't start because the fan was stuck. I opened it up, rotated the fan a little and it worked.

I can hear the fans running so I guess it's not the fan. As to RAM going dead... well I guess it's possible. But wouldn't that give out a POST beep? My laptop is not giving me any beeping at all. So I don't know, I don't think it reached POST yet.

too many variables here..

the starting place for troubleshooting is to pull anything that you can..
add in memory, port replicator or dock if present..
you might even pull the HDD and battery and see if you can get to the bios setup..

if it is still acting badly it is probably time for a trip to a repair shop..

i take it that the warranty is expired..??
if you don't know you can go to the ibm/lenovo web site and check..

You geussed it, the warrenty had expired. May I ask how would I go about finding a repair shop? I live in a small city and I don't think there's a IBM representative here.

Hello all, I haven't been on this site for a while since I was trying to track down how to repair my Tablet. After much searching, the problem was finaly confirmed to be deadRAM.
