R40 won't boot

i hit the power button and all of the lights come on as usual but then .........nothing. the screen stays blank and all of the light go out except for the 2nd and 3rd on the right. anyone else have this problem? anyone have any ideas? happened to me once before when i removed the CMOS battery. i completely disassembled the laptop and let it sit for about a day. worked when i reassembled. not the case this time. any remedies?
