Problems in Recovering a R52

#1 Post by kodo2006 » Sun Sep 10, 2006 3:51 pm

Hi,
i hope, that somebody here can help me.
I have:
a R52

a "clean" harddisk

a set of 6 recovery cd's, made for a R52 and a T43
version.txt of the 1st disk:
Field Value
0) Name: R52,T43
1) CD#: Disc 1 of 6
2) Date: 07/01/2005
3) CD P/N: 39K8515
4) OS: XP-P SP2
5) Lang: GR
6) FRU#: 39K8490
7) MS Date 2004

2 R&R disks one is V2.04.xx and one is 3.1, which i made with another harddisk installed with a Windows XP Pro SP2

i want to recover this harddisk into the delivery state
what i try:
i boot from the R&R boot disks, choose the third option, choose no data backup and immediately get the message:
in german
"Die Funktion zur Produktwiederherstellung wurde von diesem System entfernt"
my try in english:
"The function for Product Recovery was removed from this system"
can please anybody help me in understanding this message and tell me, what i can do to prevent this or why it does occur?

This did already cost me hours and any help would be appreciated

Thanks a lot in advance
Stephan

Can you boot from Disk 1? I have a set of those CD's as a result of putting a hard drive into a client T43 and the process worked fine. It was a while back, and I cannot remember whether I started with Disk 1 or the R&R CD. Try IBM Help as the machine may still be under warranty and ask them to guide you through the recovery.

Try booting from the first CD. Before making any selections (that is after it has booted, but no selections), Press F3 and then perhaps ESC to get back to a DOS prompt.

Run FDISK and delete all partitions. Then run FDISK /mbr to fix the master boot record. Then try re-imaging.

Hi,

finally i got it working :D
How?
Ok, i found an old japanese version of RnR 2.xx in some well known p2p network
booted from it, clicked some buttons, which i thought they could be the right ones (japanese), then after a reboot, it wanted the 6 cd set YEAH
and the best: after finishing recovery, the hpa language is german :D

thanks
