Alcohol+Water on a paper towel or cloth plus rubbing it on the lid case.
For the screen, I use Klearscreen and a microfiber cloth and it does wonders. You should never use window cleaner, an ammonia based cleaning product, or large amounts of non-diluted alcohol as exposure to such, over time, will make the LCD screen surface yellow and become brittle.

I use alcohol+water (50-50) + lint free soft cloth to celan my LCD. Getting a specklessly clean LCD is tough, though
Couldn't dare use undiluted alcohol on LCD, and as Chris, would advice against it.

Good practice to follow.Torque wrote: Once in a while removing the keyboard and blowing dust out of it, and the fan, with canned compressed air.
In addition, it is good to clean out the internals of it every now and then, about 1 month in intervals. A neat trick to get dust out of the fan air conduits is to take a can of compressed duster gas/air, apply the little straw attachment, and, while the Thinkpad is off, blow directly into the PC Card bays or the vents themselves. This causes the fan, under no torque (coincidence
I do the same thing along with partial parts removal and cleaning of my T43.
