I use my T42 on the move a lot - between wi-fi hot spots and wired locations. Often hibernate when moving between. At random, it seems, I have trouble reconnecting to my firm's Exchange server after waking from hibernate. I always disable wireless before hibernating - mainly it works OK, but sometimes doesn't wake up properly, so I disable to avoid. And kill the VPN clilent. After wakeup I re-establish VPN connexion (Cisco), and I can then see my firms network, can synch files etc. But if the Outlook client on T42 is open (albeit) off line, I can't always force a reconnexion without having to close Outlook... wait for it to properly unload itslelf (or even kill its process in Task Manager) and then fire it up again. but somtimes it just reconnects no problem.
Anybody have any similar experiences? Is there a cure?
I'm running Xp sp2 and Outlook 2003.

If I standby or hibernate, I close all applications (particularly Outlook), close any open VPN session, and then disconnect the network prior to standing by or hibernating. When I wake up, I connect to the new location (different than what I disconnected), restart the VPN (never any issue) and run Outlook.
I don't think it is reasonable to go to sleep in one environment, wake up in another environment and expect no problems. I don't even think it is reasonable to go to sleep with a live connection and data passing, and wake up expecting no problems.
My process involves little (very, very, very little) extra works and results in zero problems.

Good advice.
The only thingk I don't do is close Outlook. I've never bothered because I know that just closing the app doesn't always close the app in the case of Outlook... it hides in the background...
but I'll try it and see how it goes.
The rest, I do as you do.
