ZONE ALARM INTERNET SECURITY

#1 Post by HowardL » Wed Sep 13, 2006 6:44 pm

Got everything running great on Z60m thanks to this forum. The only glitch seems to be on shutdown Zone Alarm always gives me an "end program" screen before it will shutdown. I run this same software on other computers with no glitch. ZA tech support could not help.

My only things running in startup from Lenovo are:
TpShocks
tfswctrl
PWRMGRTR
TPHKMGR

Anyone have any experience with this problem/
Thanks

I had some problems with Zone Alarm on my ThinkPad in the past. Last year I switched to Kerio. I prefer Kerio to Zone Alarm.

Thanks GomJabbar
The only problem I am having is that the Thinkpad seems to shut down before ZA. I'll keep working on it and if I don't get a fix I may go ahead and change.
Thanks

Did you try running the system update? there are a lot of updates on the machine. Since i got mine, my bios was 3 versions old! And there are lots of drivers that could be replaced.

Thanks Zen. Yes, I did that when I first got the machine and all my drivers/software are updated. I run ZA on other computers and do not have this problem. Even ZA tech support couldn't help. It's not a big issue, just takes a moment at shutdown and the dialogue box closes on its own.

If you have nay other ideas on speeding up the boot up or shut down, please post. I run minimum programs in msconfig and have uninstalled everything I do not use.

Howardl,

I have an article that i downloaded that gives instructions on how to optimize xp/2000. Basically it shuts down all services, bells and whistles thats not really needed and helps to improve performance.

I will try to dig it up as I will also need it to optimize my new z60m. I think it also includes how to partiiton your hard drive as well. For example a separate partiiton for system files, programs, temp, pagefile, personal stuff, media stuff, and media editing.

If you use linux another partition would also be needed. Not sure if anyone here has posted a successfull dual boot with XP.
