560 problem

I have had problems with my thinkpad 560, in fixing them i had to re-install windows 95 in safe mode, this then allowed it to load. But the screen was small. I made it fill out but in doing so i have lost clarity, i have lost 24bit colour and i dont no the defualt settings. The screen has now has a very course apearance and the wall paper apears to large for the scene, at the moment i am unable to find a way to resize everything.
