"Realtime" option view for Active HDD Protection

#1 Post by proFeign » Thu Sep 14, 2006 7:09 pm

That is freaking sweet :o

Double click the little HDD with the play sign in the system tray and click the real time tab and then tilt your laptop around a little bit.

Oh man is that cool.

Ok, I'll bite. I think it is pretty cool too. I assumed the shock detection worked but now I have a visual to look at and see it in action.

I didn't trust that it was sensitive enough to notice a slow slide off of something (like my bed) but it looks like as long as it's a new change in orientation it's really good about getting worried.

It's a little too aggro for some movements, even on low sensitivity, which I decided when watching a Divx movie for class, because I was watching it sick in bed and trying to move even a little bit would make it stick for a few seconds and cut off sound. Even lowering it to "Low" didn't make a perceptible difference in sensitivity, but that's a small price to pay for knowing your data is more safe than it might otherwise be.

It still is the most impressive (to other people that I show it to) feature so far...

The inevitable reaction from other people who I tell about the spill-proof keyboard and magnesium lid or 7:30 battery life or light weight and shock protection is "man, my laptop sucks" or "shut up" or "why doesn't my laptop do that?"

This is the neatest laptop ever for me, and I'm a hardcore computer/IT nerd.
