Noisy and Loose touchpad buttons

#1 Post by UCI_MECH » Sat Aug 21, 2004 3:35 pm

I just received my 3VU yesterday. Everything looks good so far just for one thing.
I noticed that both buttons of the touchpad feel very loose and they are creaking really loudly.

Is that normal? The notebook feels very sturdy and well constructed except for those buttons.

Mine seemed to rattle a bit when I got it, but over time it's gone away. It was the one thing I noticed that I didn't like. Until you mentioned it, I'd forgotten, and now when I check, it seems they aren't the way they were when I got them. Maybe they seat themselves in their bumper over time and that keeps them from hopping around.

Seems like the condition on mine too

My left touchpad button is looser than the right button, don't know if the differential in pressure necessary for each button is designed but a bit peculiar when I first got the computer. The "thud, thud" noise of the right button is a sign that it is not very well designed. I had learned to use the navitrack buttons as a replacement. Nice touchpad response but clucky buttons annoyed the hell out of me.

I agree. The left button is much worse.

I think I have to learn to live with it. Thank you guys for your feedback.
