I just got a new T40, I did not get a recovery disc with it, nor did it have a recovery partition. so Im looking for a recovery disc.

beyopnd that I have reinstalled windows with one of my own discs. This part went fine, the drivers went fine, but the IBM software such as the Access IBM button and such dont work, even when I have installed everything ib the system updated provided by IBM website

You need the factory restore disks to make everything work, you don't have the HPA installed. You can download most of the software from the Lenovo web site, but not the recovery partition and some other stuff.
