Extened warrenty on used T40.

#1 Post by vinny77 » Tue Sep 19, 2006 2:54 pm

I just got a Used T40 and it will be in its standard depot warranty until October 6th 2006. Ive only got a few more days until this date, and am wondering if you guys think it will be a good idea to extend my warranty for another year or 2.

1 year = $110
2 years = $220

The notebook only was $501 on ebay, which was a great price.

do you guys think it would be wise for me to get the extended warrenty.

EZ serve problems aside..

Do you plan on keeping it at least 2 years? While it's a great selling point, you're not going to get nearly as much back if you sell. I added a warranty on an R40 after the warranty expired, for $180/1 year. I sold the thing 3 months later...So that was a huge waste.

Not that this is an ethical decision, but I've learned to wait until something goes wrong, then sign up for the warranty. In my case, I can use another laptop or computer in the time from when the problem occurs, and when I can make a warranty claim without suspicion.

it seems like they just jack the price up after the original warranty expires, so i would recommend going for the 2 year if you plan to keep it. if you don't, and something like the lcd or motherboard fails, you'll be wishing you had!
