Large dark patch on LCD
Hello,
The 570e that I acquired has a large dark patch, roughly a half-oval, stretching out from the right side of the screen and stretching half way up and down the screen. Indeed the brightness across the entire screen seems fairly inconsistent, with the brightest spots being the top and bottom right corners. The pixels are not dead. But anything brought into the area simply becomes dark and subdued, still visible, still legible.
Any thoughts as to what the problem is, whether it is likely to get worse, and whether it can be fixed with a little bit of industry?
Thanx,
cure

Your only option would be to replace the LCD. Search ebay maybe you find one.

You might be able to replace the bulb to get even lightness, but it is a nightmare of a procedure. It depends on whether the patches are a result of pressure, or bad lighting. I think that in the case that dsigma6 mentioned, where the lighting returned to normal, that would be a case where the CCFL (backlight) could be replaced and show a difference.cure wrote:So no chance that reseating cables or replacing the bulbs would help?

Adding to my own problem with a large dark area on the screen, I've just noticed something...
If I'm running off of AC, the patch is usually there. I started noticing after 30 seconds after pulling the plug, running on battery, the dark spot disappears. This is perplexing, yet encouraging, but I have no idea what that's all about. Anyone have a clue?

After the dark area goes away while running on battery, I plugged back in and the spot took a good number of minutes to come back. This is probably a freak thing, I don't see how any component could cause such behavior (attempting to be proved wrong in an effort to receive an even greater feeling of elation).
edit: More observations-
T23 was last used on AC, and the dark area came back. Today I've had it at work on battery, with brightness all the way down, and the spot was still there. I turned the brightness all the way up, and 1 minute later the area was back to normal. &#^%&!!
