New 3G Watcher program for Sierra Wireless AirCard 860

I ran across a new Watcher program that works with the AirCard 860. It is on the download page for the AirCard 850. It is called 3G Watcher rather than just Watcher.

When I installed the program, I chose the Custom installation and I chose not to install the firmware updater since I wasn't sure if it was compatible with the AirCard 860.

I like the new program better. It has a better appearance, fewer icons in the Notification area, and displays signal strength on the one icon that is in the Notification area. I am using this with Cingular HSDPA/UTMS/EDGE/GPRS service in the USA.

I did discover that errors were popping up in Event Viewer even though the program seemed to be running OK. The solution is to download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package to install the runtime libraries. Click on link under RESOLUTION on the page below.
