T42 ram advise

which types of ram are compatible for T42? and what are the differences?
IBM Thinkpad T43 - PM 1.86GHz
Sony VAIO FE - C2D 1.86GHz

ddr333/pc2700 <- that's the exact one

ddr266/pc2100, will work, but slower

ddr400/pc3200 , not all brands work, don't know why, but I had the problem.

IF you buy IBM branded one or at least the one that has IBM sticker you will have easy replacement warranty wth them.

Other than that buy kingston. I had one Kingston RAM chip went bad on me, went on kingston website,, filed a claim. In few days got response with instructions, where to send it.
Got a replacement RAM in few days :)

Had the same problem with Samsung RAM (non-ibm branded)... their response was that the ram chips were sold to some memory manufacturer (who assembles ram modules from their ram chips); so I had to go to ask for warranty claim from that manufacturer... anyway, to make things short - screw gnusmaS...
