car adapter

#1 Post by highdroh20 » Thu Sep 21, 2006 6:05 pm

on the power converter that comes with my r52, it says the output of the converter is 16v 4.5amp. a normal cars dc accessory hook up puts out about 12-13 maybe 14v. why do people spend the money on the car adapter kits? what kind of problems would i be facing if i just hooked it up to the cigarette lighter? i havent done it yet, but i dont see why it wouldnt work. whats your view on it?

The voltage from your adapter is more regulated than auto voltage, and I would not run my Laptop at 75 percent of rated voltage any more than I would try to run my refrigerator at 90 VAC. Just not wise.
