Upgrading my original TP600

#1 Post by Catlover32 » Sat Sep 23, 2006 12:56 pm

Hi all,

I have a plain vanilla TP600 2645-35U, PII 233 w/ BIOS IBET41WW - 05/12/99. I was thinking or replacing the system board with something newer from a 600e. Does anyone know what p/n or fru will fit my machine (connectors and sockets etc.)? Inquiring minds want to know!

Unfortunately, the model that you have is a 12.1" LCD, which means that the options for you are pretty limited. I don't think that they even made a 600E with a 12.1" LCD. It might be easier to pick up a barebones 600E.

Here is the description of your system, according to IBM/Lenovo.
Product: ThinkPad 600 2645-35U [change]

Operating system: All [change]

Original description: PII 233MHz (512KB) 32MB RAM 3.2GB 12.1 SVGA TFT 24X Win95

for the cost and risk involved, i would get something newer, like a T21 and keep the old 600 as a backup..
