finger print boot authentication lags?

#1 Post by thinkweird » Sun Sep 24, 2006 6:27 pm

I enabled the bootup finger print option but it takes about three swipes to verify.

The previous two times give no response. Is there supposed to be lag of a few seconds before I can swipe?

• Considering a T530 or X230T now

Errr, yes.

There is a prompt that tells you when it is OK to swipe your finger for biometric verification/authentication. This delay is, as you noted, no longer than 1 or 2 seconds. :)

Yes but the prompt seems to lie. On my T43 it is often a good 3-5 seconds after the prompt appears, that it is really ready to go. Especially on bootup.

Perhaps it's recognizing the fingerprint immediately, but the system is so busy that it takes 5 seconds for the green checkmark to refresh on the screen. But to the user, it feels the same.

Sometimes my system misses the first swipe if I do it immediately following the prompt. I've just learned to be patient. Because I use the FPR for the power-on password and Windows logon, that first (or second) swipe is all that's needed to get to the Windows Desktop (eventually).
