T30 Touchpad - trick to getting it working?

Hi,

I bought a T30 used a while ago and shipped it to my siter in law. It was perfect except for the fact that I could never get the touchpad working (tried updating the BIOS, and installed the auto configuration program that checks and updates the drivers).

Bottom line, she needed it fast and would be using an external mouse so it became a non-issue, and I guess everyone kind of forgot about it.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I picked up another T30 in perfect shape but that needed a sytem board. I put in a 2GHz sytem board, and BANG, it's up and running with W2K, but guess what? Touch pad is NG!

I guess my question is, is this a common hardware fault with T30s or is there some trick (that everyone knows but me) that will enable the Alps touchpad? -Thanks.

Did you reseat the connector?

They're normally problem free.
