Problem playing videos on T43p

I recently bought a T43p with an ATI Graphics card. Whenever I play movies, whether it is from the DVD-drive, from a ripped DVD file or an mpeg/avi file, the video will show up very dark. Everything else will look normal except for the browser that I am using to open the movie file (Windows media player, VLC Media Player, Intervideo WinDVD, Cyberlink PowerDVD, Quicktime). The contrast of the videos will always be dark, regardless of what program I am using to open the file or what type of file it is. Has anyone heard of this problem? I already updated my graphics card drivers so I do not think that is the problem.

I should also note that I can play a video file normally if I open a movie first in one player, such as VLC Media player, and then open the same file in another player, like Windows Media Player. For some reason, if I open the same video file in two browsers, the video will play normally the second time I open the file. However, this is not a solution to my problem because it is very annoying and time consuming.

I am sorry, but you seem to have a rather unique problem. I have never heard of it before. Since you have already updated the video drivers, the only thing I could suggest is a fresh install of the operating system using Restore to Factory Contents. You can do this by booting into Rescue and Recovery on the hard drive or by using the Product Recovery Disc set. Be sure and make a Product Recovery Disc set if you haven't already.
