Hi, I posted about the heat earlier but am still not convinced it's entirely normal. So I am posting again for more thoughts/opinions.
Under normal use (winamp, firefox, AIM mainly) my processor is reaching temperatures of 70C and above with relative ease. I am not running at 100% CPU usage for extended periods...why is this the case? Is this normal, and is it safe? If it's a safe temperature, I don't really mind, but that is REALLY hot. I would imagine an idling temp closer to 50C. I often reach 78C before the default fans kick in. I use Thinkpad Fan Control to keep it under check, but it doesn't solve the fact this thing runs very very hot...
Also, my machine has a lot of screen flex. It gets a ton of ripples when I put pressure on the back of the LCD. I thought Thinkpads generally were bereft of this kind of problem, especially one so acclaimed as the T23 (even though it is quite old). Is that the sign of a bad or just old LCD? Would a new one fix that problem, or perhaps a new bezel (does that mean the "lid"?)?
I love my machine, it's a sweet system, but these two things bug me. If anyone could give me some feedback, I would be very happy. Thanks!

pushing on the screen does produce the ripple effect. that's just the way it is. i'm not going to tell you about how to avoid that..
i've been monitoring my t23 and stressing it by holding f5 on the desktop. it heats up to 80C before the fan kicks in...Um...Hello!! I'm taking it apart and applying arctic 5, I have a feeling that the CPU has no contact with the heatsink.
