A20m (700MHz) CPU can upgrade to SL5CH (1GHz) ?

#1 Post by palmate » Thu Sep 28, 2006 4:13 am

My A20m cpu is 700MHz and running BIOS version IWET59WW 1.13.
I would like to ugrade to 1GHz with the SL5CH but don't know if the motherboard and BIOS support that CPU.
1. IBM BIOS history said it support Step C0
2. The existing CPU speed seems running 100MHz (5.5 x 99.4MHz)

I use CPU-Z and showed the following CPU information :
Name : Intel Pentium III E
Codename : Coppermine
Package : Socket BGA2 (platform ID = 5h)
CPUID : 6.8.3
Core Stepping : cB0
Technology : 0.18 um
Core Speed : 546.8 MHz (5.5 x 99.4 MHz)
Stock frequency : 700 MHz
L2 cache : 256 KBytes

SL5CH sSpec :
CPU Speed: 1GHz
Bus Speed: 133MHz
Bus/Core Ratio: 7.5
L2 Cache Size: 512
Core Stepping : 06B1

Please advice. Thanks.
