Strange Video Problem with A31P

#1 Post by fwinkler » Thu Sep 28, 2006 2:25 pm

First of all, i think the video-card/ video-memory of my A31P is defect, but anyway can anybody explain this strange Problem:

The effect is, that the content of the screen is corrupt. Sometimes i have green/red bricks/dots on it, sometimes white squares covering up to the whole screen. I can refresh the screen (F5 on windows), then for a short time everything is ok, but immediatly after that moment everthing is scrambled again. (This is not an software issue. I can boot linux from cd, with the same effect)

But then, when i turn off the laptop, and restart it again, in some cases i got no 'defects' on the screen, and what i miracle, i can work the whole day, as if i never had any problems.

So it is like this, when i have the problems after the start, they will stay, if i don't have them, they will not come.

Any hint, what could be the cause for this effect? It seems that somehow the video-ram could not be read or updated in the right way. But why?

Thanks for any answer in advance.

Frank

Your MB is going bad (graphics chip is on motherboard). Read "A31 Laptop screen issue" thread started 09JAN06.

Happened to me, too -- same symptoms. It will get progresively worse, but not in a straight line.
