Why can't i use an A31 Motherboard in an A31P

#1 Post by fwinkler » Thu Sep 28, 2006 2:30 pm

Hi everybody,

i've got a used Motherboard with an ATI Radeon 7500 for my defect A31P, which had the ATI Radeon 7800 (FIRE GL) and the UXGA Display (1600 x 1200).

When i try the Motherboard Replacement, i get no Picture on the LCD Display, and the Computer won't boot. Does that mean, that the replacement-Motherboard doesn't work with my LCD, or could it be, that it is defect?

fwinkler, there was some discussion elsewhere in the forum about 1) matching cables for different LCDs and different ATI card types, depending on the type of motherboard and LCD, 2) which gfx cards can support which displays.

See, e.g. http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... +connector, http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... +connector. i searched the forum for "a31 lcd connector". There may have been a couple of other threads.

Good luck,

Milos
