T21 Question

I have a T21 (2647-21U) which has demonstrated the problems which are well documented in this forum of overcharging capacitors. My particular laptop also has other issues which I haven't seen in other posts on this forum.

1) I use the Ultrabay battery and due to a design flaw in the laptop (which doesn't allow for the selection of which battery to drain from first) requires me to start the computer with the regular battery and only when I am running low do I insert the Ultrabay one (so as to not unnecessarily wear it down). Recently, when I've been doing that, the computer shuts down or reboots depending on its mood.

2) I also have issues related to my docking station that if I remove the laptop, it either reboots or shuts down.

I compensated for the overcharging capacitor issue for the last while by buying the separate battery charger and charging the batteries separately. However, now with the random reboot issues, I feel it warranted to actually address the problem.

My particular model uses the infamous (according to this board) 13.3" LCD screen. I am wondering:

a) if anyone has had any experience or knows of a post (searched and didn't find) of someone who has swapped their motherboard with the refurb found on eBay (see this as an example) which specifies a 14.1" XGA/SXGA?
b) If so, were any modifications required to make it work?
c) Could someone reasonably conclude based on my problems that a motherboard swap would resolve the issues?

c- Maybe. What happens when you insert a CDROM or other UB2K device?
